Conservative's Cameron to make offer to Liberal Democrats

05-08-2010 07:58 BJT Special Report: Britain General Election |

LONDON, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Conservative leader David Cameron said Friday he would make a comprehensive offer to Liberal Democrats to work together.

The Tory leader said it was reasonable to expect the bulk of his policies to be implemented in a deal with the Liberal Democrats.

Cameron said Britain needs a strong government to deal with such issues as the war in Afghanistan and the economy, and those were problems too urgent to allow party bickering.

The British general election resulted in a "hung parliament" as no party can win a clear majority, and the Conservatives were set to become the largest party in the new parliament.

Among 641 seats declared, Conservatives have won 302 seats so far, leaving them well short of the 326 members of Parliament party leader David Cameron needs to lead a majority government. The Labour Party meanwhile gained 256 seats and the Lib Dems 56 seats.
