BOGOTA, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Some 350,000 military and police personnel will be deployed to safeguard the May 30 presidential elections, the government said Wednesday.

Defense Minister Gabriel Silva made the announcement when presenting the security plan for the elections.

Members of the National Police, the Nation Army and the Air Force will be deployed in almost all polling stations across the country, he said.

The minister said he will hold eight meetings between May 13 and 21 to make last-minute adjustments to the security plan and to detect risks.

In addition, Silva said he has assigned more than 500 police officers and necessary resources to avoid disruptions in campaigns of all presidential candidates.
