CPC plans multimedia campaign to develop model members

05-14-2010 08:33 BJT

BEIJING, May 13 (Xinhua) -- The Communist Party of China (CPC) is planning a multimedia blitz to publicize the stories of "outstanding" Party members so that other members can learn from them.

The CPC would make full use of newspapers, radio, TV, the Internet, distance education networks, and text messaging to publicize the stories, said a CPC circular published Thursday.

The circular also warned that "those who think little of the campaign or are lax in their action will be reprimanded and should rectify their behavior in a limited time period set by relevant Party committee."

The new campaign was launched in April, right after an 18-month nationwide CPC study campaign to implement the Scientific Outlook on Development drew to a close.

An extension of the study campaign, the new campaign aimed to make CPC members promote "scientific development and a harmonious society," serve the people, and strengthen grassroots Party organizations, said the circular issued by the General Office of the CPC Central Committee.

A leading group, headed by Li Yuanchao, head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, was set up to guide the campaign and ensure the campaign's smooth operation, said the circular.

The authority would also supervise the campaign by holding seminars, conducting regular inspections and spot checks, said the circular.

The Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee planned to honor model CPC members and branches in 2012 for their outstanding performance in the campaign.
