4th Chinese Education Exhibition opens in Bangladesh

DHAKA, May 13 (Xinhua) -- The 4th Chinese Education Exhibition opened here Thursday in Bangladesh's North-South University with the purpose to attract more Bangladeshi students to study in China.

The exhibition is organized by China Scholarship Council with the cooperation of Chinese embassy in Bangladesh and North-South University, the first private university in Bangladesh. 36 universities from China are participating in the exhibition.

Hong Tianqiu, acting head of the Chinese Education Exhibition delegation, said comparing with previous exhibitions, more universities attend the exhibition this year.

"The exhibition is providing a good opportunity for bringing Chinese universities to the world," Hong said.

Dilip Barua, industry minister of Bangladesh, said at the opening ceremony he is happy that so many Chinese universities come to Bangladesh to showcase their education resources and prospects.

"I firmly believe through this exhibition the deep-rooted bilateral relation and cooperation between Bangladesh and China especially in the field of education and knowledge sharing will be strengthened further in the days ahead," he said.

Zhang Xianyi, Chinese ambassador to Bangladesh, said good education makes good future. "In modern society, education plays a vital role in promoting the advancement of science and technology, " he said.

Zhang said as the frequency of the education exchange between the two countries increases day by day, more and more Bangladeshi students want to know about the Chinese universities and eager to get an opportunity to further their studies in China.

"Education Exhibition provides a widow and a platform for the Bangladeshi students to know Chinese universities," he said.

M.A. Kashem, chairman of North-South University Foundation, said he is very glad the Chinese Education Exhibition is being held in their university. Kashem believed more Bangladeshi students will visit the exhibition as China has a 5,000-year glorious history of ideas and education.

The exhibition will close on Friday.
