YouTube marks fifth birthday with 2 billion daily views

05-18-2010 14:00 BJT

BEIJING, May 18 (Xinhuanet) -- YouTube marked its fifth anniversary on Tuesday by stating it has more than two billion daily views on its site, according to news reports.

"I see this great growth opportunity in the online video market and we are positioning ourselves to be a leader," co-founder Chad Hurley told ABC News.

YouTube began to develop new features including the caption features in 2008. In November last year, the website released auto-captioning for a small, select group of partners. This year, it is reported that it will add caption to most of the English videos.

Bloomberg News pointed out that the biggest challenge facing YouTube advertising is what makes it so popular - its user-generated content.

Hurley commented that they are trying to make opportunities for everyone and it is not just about doing big deals with major networks.
