Microsoft to upgrade hotmail service

05-18-2010 16:42 BJT

BEIJING, May 18 (Xinhuanet) -- Microsoft is to upgrade its hotmail service with more convenient features, according to news reports on Tuesday.

The worldwide online mail service will be upgraded this July or August, with file previewing service without opening a new window, Bloomberg reported.

"The latest...hotmail will also let users modify files within the browser with no additional software to download," said Dharmesh Mehta, director of product management for the Windows Live business.

Gmail has similar file-editing gadgets, but the service lacks the capability to fully convert the Office-typed documents, which was created by Microsoft, Mehta said as quoted by Associated Press.

Microsoft is growing with more competitive Internet mail technology which has emerged to be the major rival against Google's Gmail.
