Ballet star bids farewell in BJ

He's been acclaimed as one of the world's greatest ballet dancers since the 1980s, but now, Manuel Legris is bidding farewell to his fans across the globe. This week, the accomplished dancer concluded his world tour in Beijing, entertaining a full-house at Peking University's theater.

Manuel's farewell show in Beijing features a feast of his most memorable works on stage. Among them were selections from classic choreography and more contemporary pieces. And the poignant intensity overwhelmed the Chinese audience.

Born in 1964, Manuel Legris has been one of Paris Opera Ballet's most brilliant and acclaimed dancers for over twenty years. He has performed all the great classics in the troupe's repertory and has inspired a long list of contemporary choreographers. His achievements are universally admired.

Feng Ying, Director of Central Ballet of China, said, "He is exemplary in the world of ballet. As the principal dancer of Paris Opera Ballet, he is distinguished for his technique, execution, and expressiveness. He has infused a poetical beauty in classical ballet. His performances combine technical perfection and profound emotions."

Manuel Legris has performed for Chinese audiences on many occasions. Over his career, he has formed an enduring friendship with his colleagues at the Central Ballet of China.

Manuel Legris, Ballet Dancer, said"Beijing is a city with a rich culture. I have had many collaborations with the Central Ballet of China. I hope to work with them again in the future, though I'm leaving the stage."

Wrapping up the world tour, Manuel Legris will make preparations for his next job, as the Artistic Director of Vienna Opera Ballet.
