Bryan brothers through to semis of WTC after beating Spain

The Bryan brothers, Bob and Mike of the US faced Spain's Daniel Gimeno-Lopez and Marc Lopez of Spain on Wednesday in the doubles at the World Team Cup.

The Bryan brothers had no real problems with their European opponents, taking the first set six games to three. The Americans held the upper hand in the second set as well, taking it 7-5 for the match and a 2-1 win over Spain. The result means they face the Czech Republic for a place in Saturday's final.

Also in the Red Group, the Czech Republic beat Australia 2-1 after Tomas Berdych clinched the series with a 6-3, 7-6 win over Carsten Ball.

Elsewhere in the Blue Group, Argentina overcame Germany 2-1, despite trailing 1-0 after Tuesday's opening singles match. Eduardo Schwank leveled the series by beating Germany's Andreas Beck 7-6, 2-6, 6-3, before Juan Monaco and Horacio Zeballos teamed up to beat Christopher Kas and Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-2, 6-3 in the doubles. Argentina will play France for a spot in the final after Jeremy Chardy and Nicolas Mahut won the decisive doubles match for France against Serbia after beating Viktor Troicki and Nenad Zimonjic 7-6, 6-2.
