RIO DE JANEIRO, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's Finance Ministry released on Thursday a report in which it reviewed the forecast for the country's GDP growth this year from 5.2 to 6.5 percent.

According to the report, the new estimates already take into consideration the first quarter GDP results, released on Tuesday by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

In the first quarter 2010, the Brazilian economy registered an expansion of 2.7 percent from the fourth quarter of last year and nine percent from the same period last year. In the past four quarters, the accumulated growth reached 2.4 percent.

The GDP growth should remain high in 2010 and in the 2011-2014 period, when the Finance Ministry expects Brazil to grow 5.5 percent. The ministry also estimated an investment rate of 19 percent in 2010, as well as a public investment of 3.3 percent of the GDP.
