RAMALLAH, June 21 (Xinhua) -- The French government on Monday agreed to provide 23 million Euros (about 28 million U.S. dollars) in donation to the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) for development projects in the Palestinian territories.
The aid agreement was signed by Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad and the French Consul General in Jerusalem Frederic Desagneaux in Ramallah in the West Bank.
The French donation was aimed at enabling the PNA to promote development and fulfill its commitments to the people, Fayyad said.
He added that the Palestinians appreciate France for its support for their just cause of establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem being the capital.
From the establishment of the PNA in 1994 to 2007, France donated Palestinians a total of 200 million U.S. dollars, which was used in infrastructure, human rights, humanitarian aid and the PNA budget.
