"The transformation of the economic growth pattern is a comprehensive and profound change, and it involves new ideas and innovative approaches. We must accelerate reform and opening-up in order to achieve it," Li said at a meeting of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) to solicit proposals for the country's 12th five-year (2011-2015) plan.

Li, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that the transformation is essential for the sustainable development of the country's economy.
