BEIJING, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao is paying a state visit to Canada before attending the G20 Summit in the country over the coming weekend.

Following are some of the quotable quotes the Chinese president has made during his meetings and talks with Canadian officials:

"China is ready to work with Canada to further expand exchanges and cooperation in various fields, push forward the China-Canada strategic partnership and bring even more benefits to the people of the two countries and around the world."

"Despite the distance between the two countries, China and Canada share a long history of friendly exchanges. Over the four decades since the establishment of diplomatic ties, the two countries have maintained frequent contacts at all levels and achieved fruitful results in cooperation in various fields."

"China welcomes more leaders of the Canadian government, parliament and political parties to visit China, and it is ready to work with Canada to fully utilize bilateral consultation mechanisms, such as the China-Canada strategic work panel, and step up dialogues and exchanges in all areas."

"The two countries should increase exchange of visits by leaders so as to enhance mutual trust. They should also enhance pragmatic cooperation in various areas and carry out close communications and coordination on regional and international issues."
