NASA: LRO's top ten discoveries on moon in 2009

BEIJING, June 23(Xinhuanet) -- The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) has gathered more digital information than any previous planetary mission in history since officially reaching orbit about the Moon on June 23, 2009.

To mark the first anniversary of LRO's arrival on the orbit, NASA has unveiled "Top ten cool things seen in the first year of LRO".

Here's a look:

1. The coldest place in the solar system

LRO's temperature instrument found a place on the bottom of the moon's Hermite Crater which was detected to be -248 degrees Celsius. It is the coldest temperature measured anywhere in the solar system.
