CAIRO, July 4(Xinhua) -- A Chinese man was shot and injured by unidentified gunmen in an area near Egypt's Rafah border, local hospital and security sources told Xinhua on Sunday.
The 33-year-old Chinese national was found near Sheikh Zoeid hospital, about 10 km from Rafah early Sunday and then was transported to the Al-Arish Central Hospital to receive better medical treatment.
He was shot and injured in his right leg.
Atef Afia, a senior Egyptian health official, told Xinhua that the man's conditions were stable after he underwent a surgery.
According to Egyptian security sources, the man was shot by gunmen as he was trying to sneak into Israel through the Egyptian borders.
