MOSCOW, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Six people were killed in a blast that ripped through a south Siberian military shooting range, police source told Russian media on Monday.

The explosion occurred on Saturday morning nine km away from the Biysk town in the Altai Territory, when explosives and other military items on a truck were being disposed. Six people died on site, including two servicemen.

However, the Russian Defense Ministry on Monday said the shooting range no longer belonged to the ministry, neither were any military servicemen included in the victims.

An investigation is currently underway.

According to the RIA Novosti news agency, the blast has been the fourth fatal accident involving disposal of explosives by Russian military forces over the past eight months.
