China Economic News in Brief: Exports from China's Inner Mongolia to Mongolia soar

BEIJING, July 6 (Xinhua) -- The following are some Chinese economic news items in brief:

INNER MONGOLIA EXPORTS TO MONGOLIA SOAR 80 PCT IN FIRST HALF

The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region's exports to neighboring Republic of Mongolia soared 80 percent year on year to 600 million U.S. dollars in the first half of this year, the region's customs authorities said Monday.

The exports mainly consisted of textiles, vegetables, fruit, daily necessities, machinery products and automobiles.

CHINA HOLDS FIRST FOREST PRODUCTS FAIR IN YICHUN

The 1st China (Yichun) Forest Products Fair opened in Yichun City in northeastern China's Heilongjiang Province Monday.

Products on display at the fair include forest food, wooden furniture, wooden handicrafts and forest herbs.

Known as China's forest capital, Yichun is China's leading forest products processing base. The city's industrial value is expected to hit 8 billion yuan this year.

NORTH LOCOMOTIVE WINS GOV'T TENDER FOR 220 ELECTRIC LOCOMOTIVES

China North Locomotive and Rolling Stock Group (China North)'s Datong Electric Locomotive Co. Ltd. has been chosen by the Ministry of Railways to supply 220 electric locomotives.

China North chief engineer Zhang Yunwei said the contract is worth 3 billion yuan.

China North will supply the 2C electric locomotive it has developed to the ministry.

The high-power 2C model is the company's newest electric locomotive. It began to roll off the production line in May. It has a total power of 9,600 KW and a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour.

China North is China's largest rail transport equipment maker.
