Argentine President starts first China visit

BEIJING, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner arrived here Sunday , starting her five-day state visit to China.

During Fernandez's stay in Beijing, Chinese President Hu Jintao will hold talks with her. Premier Wen Jiabao, top political advisor Jia Qinglin and Vice Premier Hui Liangyu will respectively meet with her.

This is Fernandez's first visit to China since she took office in 2007. Besides meetings with Chinese leaders, the president will join Hui to address a business leader's luncheon party. She will also travel to Shanghai for the World Expo.

Fernandez said Friday before leaving for China that her country attached great importance to the strategic partnership with China and hoped that her upcoming visit would push the bilateral relations to a new high.
