Militants destroy girls' school in NW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, July 12 (Xinhua) -- Unidentified miscreants destroyed another girls school by detonating explosive early Monday morning in Sheikh Baba area of Bajaur tribal Agency, northwest Pakistan, local sources said.

No casualty was reported because the students had not gone to school at the blast time, police sources said.

So far the total number of schools destroyed in Bajaur area is 89, as insurgent Taliban militants have reportedly been regrouping in the northwest tribal areas of Pakistan.

At least six militants were killed and several injured on June 16, as Pakistani security forces pounded heavy artillery on extremists' hideouts in troubled in Nawagai area of Bajaur Agency.

Pakistani security forces had recently declared victory in some of the tribal areas, after launching several operations utilizing both ground and air offensive scoring significant victory against the extremists. However, recent reports suggest that militants are regrouping again in some areas including Bajaur agency.
