ISLAMABAD, July 12 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani security forces arrested at least 280 suspects and seized a large quantity of ammunition during search operations in the country's northwest, police sources said Monday.
The suspects were arrested in Bara tehsil of Khyber tribal area. Search operations against militants in different areas within the region.
More than 200 militants have been killed in military action in the region during the past few months, according to the private TV DAWN news, including local as well as foreign militants.
Meanwhile, at least two people were injured as a rocket hit a big market in Khyber tribal Monday morning, according to local TV channels.
A powerful explosion was heard in Niazi Market, which was result of a rocket attack at the local press club in the market.
Pakistani security forces had recently declared victory in some of the tribal areas, after launching several operations utilizing both ground and air offensive scoring significant victory against the extremists. However, recent reports suggest that militants are regrouping again in some areas including Bajaur Agency.
On Friday morning, two suicide bombers, reportedly one on a motorbike, another on foot, attacked a political agent's office located at a crowded bazaar in the Tehsil Yakaghand area of Mohmand Agency in northwest Pakistan, killing more than 100 hundred people, destroying more than 100 shops and 24 vehicles nearby the blast site.
