SURABAYA, Indonesia, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian navy's special force of Kopaska resumed Tuesday a joint military drill with members of U.S. Navy's special force of Navy Seal here.
"It is highly expected that the joint military drill will eventually improve the unity, brotherhood and mutually benefiting Indonesian Kopaska and U.S. Navy Seal," Indonesian Navy Eastern Fleet Commander (Pangarmatim) Rear Admiral Bambang Suwarto said in his remarks to commence the drill on Monday.
Indonesian navy deployed 98 troops in the military drill entitl ed Flash Iron 10-2 JCET. It will last till Aug. 5.
Bambang said that Indonesian navy's special force is expected to hone their skills in individual techniques and tactical strategy to face terror at the sea.
Such a joint military drill had been conducted several times in the past few years in line with the improving relations between Indonesian and U.S. Military.
