Pakistani, Indian FMs begin talks to "restore trust"

07-15-2010 15:46 BJT

ISLAMABAD, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and his Indian counterpart S.M. Krishna opened talks here Thursday to work out the modalities of "restoring trust and confidence" in the relationship and to pave the way for a " substantive dialogue" on issues of mutual concerns, officials said.

India had suspended dialogue with Pakistan since the November 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai which killed nearly 170 people.

India blamed Pakistan-based group "Lashkar-e-Taiba" (LeT) for the attack and sources said India will seek details of the investigation of the Pakistani suspects.

Pakistan has tried seven LeT members including the group's operations chief Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi on charges of providing training, financial support, accommodation, equipment and communications gear to the 10 perpetrators of Mumbai attack.

Both foreign ministers will speak to reporters after the talks, the Foreign Office said.
