BEIJING, July 28 (Xinhuanet) -- Writing blogs, filming ads, touring scenic spots, and earning an annual salary of 300,000 yuan, or more than 44,000 US dollars. Now this so-called "most comfortable job in China" has been offered to Huang Peipei, a 23-year-old Beijing girl, Beijing Youth Daily reported Tuesday.
This June, the local government in central China's Henan Province launched a competition to select an administrator for all the Nanwan Lake islands. Huang Peipei defeated nine other competitors through speeches, talent contests, random written examinations and other tests, and finally won the "most comfortable job".
However, this contest sparked concern among some members of the media, as they thought it was a reproduction of the Queensland tourism campaign. Meanwhile, some netizens have blamed Huang Peipei for sensationalizing herself through this competition.
Last year, Australia's Queensland launched a global search for candidates for "the best job in the world"--earning a top salary just for relaxing upon a beautiful tropical island for six months. The obscure island became famous throughout the world overnight. The campaign was also considered a successful marketing strategy.
Organizers of the Nanwan Lake competition admitted that their aim was to build up tourism for Nanwan Lake, but denied they deliberately plotted this campaign in order to promote Huang Peipei.
