Visitors to Slovakia Pavilion exceed half its population

07-31-2010 11:29 BJT Special Report:Shanghai World Expo 2010 |

The Slovakia Pavilion yesterday presented a gift package to its 2,713,323rd visitor, as the number 2,713,323 equals to about half of Slovakia's population and is a combination of lucky numerals.

"Every success comes twice and we wish that the number of visitors would be doubled," said Janka Almanova, deputy commissioner general of the pavilion.

Three represents the number of life cycle with three periods - the beginning, the middle and the end, or in other words the past, present and future, she noted, adding that it symbolizes a spiral of life that is also included in the logo of the Slovakia Pavilion and the pavilion has three exhibition rooms.

Numbers 3 and 7 often occur in Slovak fairytales and historical records, she said.

The lucky visitor Zhou Quan from Zhuzhou, Hunan Province, received a gift package of Slovakian products, a set of glass products, commemorative Euro coins issued at the occasion of Slovakia's joining to the Eurozone as well as wine.

It was Zhou's fifth visit to the Expo site.

Almanova said the visitor number was far beyond their anticipation and the staff were thrilled to see that so many Chinese visitors are interested in the country.
