DAVAO CITY, Philippines, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Unidentified gunmen robbed a Korean national of ten million pesos ( 220,000 U.S. dollars) of cash and valuables in a southern Philippine city over the weekend, local police said.

Chung Keo Lee and his driver were onboard his vehicle when they were blocked by three suspects at a village in Cagayan de Oro City early Sunday, Major Reynante Reyes, chief of the city police investigation office, said.

The 58-year old from Seoul, South Korea, was on his way to a business trip in nearby Bukidnon province when he was robbed at gunpoint, Reyes said.

"The victim was reportedly planning to put up a gold processing plant here and was supposed to meet a business partner when the incident happened," Reyes said, adding they were having a hard time in the investigation as the victim was uncooperative.

He said the victim was unharmed.
