SUVA, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale struck the south off the Pacific island nation of Fiji Islands on Wednesday afternoon, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
No casualty or damages were reported so far. The quake, occurred 04:46 p.m. Fiji local time (0446 GMT), was centered 270 km northeast of Raoul Island, Kermadec Islands. It was at a depth of 23.9 km. The Hawai-based Pacific Tsunami center did not issue any tsunami warning.
