Youth Olympic Flame arrives in Singapore

SINGAPORE, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- The 2010 Youth Olympic Flame arrived at Changi Airport in Singapore at around 2:20 pm Thursday.

The Flame arrived here after it was relayed in Berlin, Dakar, Mexico City, Auckland and Seoul. The Flame Arrival Ceremony will be held Friday at the National University of Singapore before a six-day torch relay kicks off August 7 and run through August 13.

The first-ever Youth Olympic Games, which will take place between August 14-26, will receive some 5,000 athletes and officials from the 205 National Olympic Committees (NOCs), along with estimated 1,200 media representatives, 20,000 local and international volunteers, and 320,000 spectators.

Young athletes - aged between 14 and 18 years - will compete in 26 sports and take part in a Culture and Education Program.
