Chinese ambassador presents credentials to Ghanaian president

New Chinese Ambassador Gong Jianzhong to Ghana presented his credentials to Ghanaian President John Evans Atta Mills here on Thursday.

Following the presentation ceremony, the ambassador conveyed cordial greetings and best wishes from Chinese President Hu Jintao, to Mills as well as to the Ghanaian people.

Gong told the president that he felt greatly honored and heavy responsibility to a Chinese ambassador to the Republic of Ghana at the time of golden jubilee of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

He highly appreciated that progress and achievement made in the social and economic sectors in the West African country.

On China-Ghana relations, Gong said that he would make his best efforts to strengthen and broaden the mutual beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

Mills expressed his welcome to Gong to be Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, hoping that the new ambassador would promote the already fruitful relations between Ghana and China to a new stage.

Mills also expressed his appreciation for the assistance and support provided by China in the economic development of the country.

Gong, who arrived here on Tuesday evening, presented a copy of his credentials to Ghana Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Alhaji Mohammad Mumuni, on Wednesday.
