China's Li beats Kerber to reach Danish Open semifinal

COPENHAGEN, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese player Li Na defeated number eight seed Angelique Kerber of Germany to reach Danish Open semifinal on Friday.

The match started at local time 17:30. It took place at Farum Arena, Copenhagen. The whole match takes only 58 minutes. In the first set, Li Na outmatched Kerber 6-1. Although Li Na was broken in her first serve game. She won six consecutive games after that, breaking her opponent three times.

In the second set, Li Na broke her opponent from the beginning and won three consecutive games. Finally she beat Kerber 6-2 to win the match.

Li Na played quite well and confidently with great advantage. Li Na is now China's number one singles player, and she is the number two seed in the Danish Open. She will go up against number seven seed Klaza Zakopalova from Czech Republic in the semifinal.

In other quarterfinals, Anna Chakvetadze of Russia beat Polona Hercog from Slovenia 6-4, 6-3 and Klara Zakopalova of Czech Republic beat Sorana Cirstea of Romania 6-1, 7-5.

The match between Caroline Wow-Niacki of Denmark and Julia Goerges of Germany will start later. Danish Open is a 220,000- dollarone tournament of the WTA events. The final will be on Sunday.
