SEOUL, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Ten South Koreans are currently marooned in northwestern China after heavy rain swept away a road to an airport, the foreign ministry said Friday.

They are students and school staff from a local college, who visited the autonomous region of Xinjiang for mountain-climbing, the ministry said.

They are now in a safe place, but it will take more time before the road to Kashgar Airport will be restored, according to the ministry.
