Chinese armed police units, officers commended for outstanding work

BEIJING, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Chairman of the Central Military Commission Hu Jintao have signed an order to bestow two armed police officers and a unit with first-class merit awards for their outstanding work.

Fu Zhongxin, deputy chief of staff of the Liaoning Province Squadron of the armed police, was commended for "outstanding contributions to major tasks," according to a statement sent to Xinhua Wednesday.

Tian Guizhong, head of the Urumqi contingent of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Squadron of the armed police, was also commended for "outstanding contributions to major tasks," according to the statement.

The second contingent of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Squadron of the armed police was also awarded for outstanding contributions in major tasks.

The statement did not provide further details.

Wen and Hu also signed an order to honor an armed police squad in Jilin City in northeastern China's Jilin Province with the title "model squad" for their outstanding achievements in team building.
