Fake Expo souvenirs destroyed

About 31,000 counterfeit products bearing the image of Haibao, the Expo 2010 mascot, and more than 500,000 shoddy Expo souvenirs were destroyed by law enforcement units in Pudong on Tuesday.

These bogus products had been confiscated from illegal street venders and their suppliers in Pudong since the World Expo began on May 1.

A total of 799 people were caught for selling fake Expo souvenirs and disturbing social order and 239 of them were discharged after education.

Law enforcement units also confiscated 1,093 fake Expo tickets and 195 fake reservation tickets used to enter some popular pavilions with very long queues.
