TEHRAN, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Friday that the Middle-East peace talks between Israel and Palestine are doomed to fail.
Ahmadinejad made the remarks addressing a Quds Day rally in Tehran.
The fate of the Palestinians should be destined "in Palestine" and by the Palestinians, not in Washington, London or in Paris, Ahmadinejad said.
"Resistance is the only way to restore the Palestinians' rights, " he said, adding that "the West should cease attempts to support the Zionist regime (of Israel)."
Quds Day, officially al-Quds Day, is celebrated annually on the last Friday of Ramadan in Iran expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people and opposing Zionism as well as Israel's control of Jerusalem.
The event this year coincides with the U.S.-sponsored Mideast peace talks held in Washington between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
