It was fine day yesterday and visitor volume bounced up slightly. By 7pm, 256,000 visitors crowded the Expo Site, up from 226,500 on Thursday. The total number of visitors reached 48 million in the 126 days of Expo.
Among yesterday's visitors, 69,455 were group tourists and 24,616 used free tickets the Shanghai government distributed to local residents.
Yesterday, 47,246 tickets were sold on site, with 15,578 night admissions.
As of 6pm, the gate at Houtan had received 47,000 visitors, compared to 41,000 at Shangnan Road, 40,000 via Changqing Road and 35,000 through Gaoke Road W.
By 5pm, 71 shows were staged within the site, attracting 32,000 spectators. Some 4,278 volunteers served on the site.
The transportation system carried 560,000 visitors. By 4pm, five medical stations in the site had received 217 visitors, of whom 25 were externally injured.
According to the Expo Bureau's Ticketing Centre, some 90,000 group visitors will visit today.
The Italy Pavilion provides 10 fast-access passes for its Expo Site pavilion to lucky online visitors. They will pick 10 netizens who visit the online pavilion from 10am to 2pm next Monday (September 6) by a lucky draw.
Those who visit the World Expo before 5pm yesterday who had tickets with "792" as the last three serial digits can win a 3,000-yuan (US$441) airfare voucher from China Eastern Airlines.
To join in the raffle, visitors need to show one of the following types of tickets: Standard Day Single Day Admission, Standard Day Special Admission, Three Day Admission or Seven Day Admission.
Winners can claim the vouchers at China Eastern's service outlets at Zones B, C and D from 4pm to 9pm daily. They can also pick them up at the airline’s ticketing office at 334 Huayuanshiqiao Road in Lujiazui, Pudong, from 9am to 5pm daily with valid Expo tickets and ID cards.
China Eastern is holding the raffle at 4pm every weekday from September 1 to 10 at the Expo site. The raffle will randomly pick three numbers, and those who have the same numbers as the last three serial digits on their tickets will be granted the vouchers which can be used to buy air tickets from China Eastern or Shanghai Airlines.
