KATHMANDU, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Nepali caretaker government and the Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-M) Monday arrived at an agreement on the extension of the term of the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) and its mandate.

Caretaker Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and UCPN-M chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda" signed a four-point agreement following a discussion held at the prime minister's official residence in the evening. The two sides have agreed to extend UNMIN's term by four months and complete the integration and rehabilitation of Maoist combatants within this period.

Established in January 2007 by UN Security Council, UNMIN's sixth term expires on Sept. 15. The government on Tuesday requested the Security Council to extend the term of UNMIN by four more months with a mandate to "focus on monitoring of Maoist combatants, cantonments and arms".
