09-21-2010 17:04 BJT

KABUL, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Six workers with a local road building company were killed Tuesday as their vehicle hit a roadside bomb in country's Parwan province some 60 km north of Afghan capital Kabul, a private television reported.

"The bloody incident took place in Shinwar district at around 11 a.m. local time. The workers were driving to a construction site in neighboring Ghorband district, when their car hit a roadside bomb," Tolo TV cited a police officer as saying in its new bulletin.

The incident occurred on the same day as Afghans were marking the International Peace Day across the militancy-hit country.

No group or individual have yet to claim responsibility for organizing the blast, but Taliban militants have in the past been blamed for planting bombs in roads.

Parwan has been regarded as a peaceful province in the central Asian state.
