Chinese embassy in Denmark celebrates National Day

COPENHAGEN, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese embassy in Denmark held a National Day reception here on Sunday to celebrate the 61st anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Ambassador Xie Hangsheng delivered a speech at the reception, hailing the tremendous achievements in the social and economic development that China has achieved since the open-up and reform policy was introduced in 1979.

He also briefed the audience on the bilateral relations between Denmark and China.

Overseas Chinese and students present at the event were encouraged by China's achievements, saying their hearts are with the motherland though they are living in Denmark. They said they will support in various forms the construction and development of China.

More than 300 people attended the reception.
