Top BIE official visits Citizen Pavilion

10-03-2010 14:33 BJT Special Report:Shanghai World Expo 2010 |

Vicente Loscertales, secretary general of the International Expositions Bureau, hailed the Citizen's Initiative Pavilion this morning for getting more public involved in the grand Expo.

The pavilion has created a bond between citizens and the Expo, aroused the public's passion and interest for the Expo as well as interpreted the Expo's theme “Better City, Better Life” to the public, he said.

The Citizen's Initiative Pavilion is the only pavilion featuring public participation in the 2010 World Expo. With modern interactive methods, visitors can design their ideal cities.

At the pavilion, Loscertales checked some electronic photos capturing his participation in the preparation and operation of the 2010 World Expo and experienced the technology which can spot him by following his shadow. He gave a thumb-up to some of his photos shown on a large screen, which were just taken at the Expo site.

He visited an oil painting exhibition featuring works about Expo 2010 pavilions, which started at the pavilion yesterday. He also enjoyed a show featuring traditional Chinese tea art.

The BIE top officials wrote down his wish for a peaceful world and the development of all nations at a “wishing tree” towards the end of his trip.

Attendance to the Citizen's Initiative Pavilion has reached 2.1 million to date, far beyond the organiser's expectation. More than 40 million people have participated in its activities via Internet, mobile phones and various events.
