Special day for Cape Verde

Cape Verde celebrates its National Pavilion Day today with a performance of traditional singing and dancing.

The 2010 World Expo offered an unprecedented opportunity for Cape Verde to showcase its achievements and culture, Cape Verde's president Pedro Pires said during this afternoon's ceremony at the Expo Center.

Feng Guoqin, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference's Shanghai Committee, said the Expo helped deepen the exchange and friendship between the people of China and Cape Verde and promoted the two countries' cooperation.

The Cape Verde Pavilion showcases how Cape Verde exerts its wisdom in the waves of globalisation, and explores the development model for its future.

The pavilion, overflowing with island ambiance, focuses on the country's history and culture, modern urban construction and future economic development.
