What a billion dollar home looks like

10-21-2010 11:07 BJT

India's richest man (and predictably the world's richest by 2014), Mukesh Ambani, recently moved his family into the billion-dollar Mumbai skyscraper he's dubbed as Antilla (named after some legendary island), and needless to say, it's quite the opposite of billionaire Steve Jobs's recent floorplan.

You'd think if you invested a billion dollars into a home, you'd go with a sprawling, several-acre estate, with room to own horses, ostriches, and unicorns. But the business tycoon went urban and built this giant Lego-looking creation that's 27 stories high and bigger than the friggin' Palace of Versailles.

Mumbai skyscraper he's dubbed as Antilla.

And while the $2-a-day paid workers labor below, he enjoys some pretty ridiculous perks up top:

For all of the various modes of transportation, there is a parking garage that holds 160 cars and three (yes, three) helicopter pads. And just in case him, his wife, three kids, or 600 staff members never want to leave the 400,000 square foot premises (ever), there is a theater that seats 50, a health club, ballroom, several lounges, a dance studio, and an elevated garden large enough to accomodate trees.

What do you think of this home? Would you want to live here or is a little too outrageous for your style?
