HARARE, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- The first Chinese team of agricultural experts in Zimbabwe has completed its one-year aid mission and is heading home Friday, the Chinese embassy said Wednesday.

During their stay here, the Chinese professionals have received compliments on many occasions from the Zimbabwean president and other high-ranking officials.

Pieter Mulder, minister of agriculture, mechanization and irrigation, on his recent visit to the local Chinese agricultural technology exhibition center, called the Chinese experts "envoys of China-Zimbabwe friendship" who have benefited the Zimbabwean people.

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, in meetings with visiting Chinese delegations, also thanked China for its agricultural aid, and highly valued the Chinese experts' professional instructions.

Chinese Ambassador Xin Shunkang held a farewell party on Wednesday evening for the Chinese experts, and awarded them a certificate of honor for their great contribution to the bilateral relations between China and Zimbabwe.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of China's aid to foreign countries. "China's aid should favor the least developed countries, inland and small island developing countries, and focus on livelihood projects that are urgently needed and welcomed by local people, such as hospitals, schools, water supplies and clean energy," Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said.
