10-21-2010 14:50 BJT

A Peruvian police officer is smashed into by a truck, sent flying along the ground, and miraculously survives.

The female officer was coming out of a side street in Lima when the lorry ploughs into her motorbike, hurling her into the container and then on to the ground.

She appears to be distracted as she appears on the CCTV footage and edges out slowly on to the road and does not see the truck bearing down on her.

Moment of impact: The female police officer is hit with crushing force by the
container truck

The impact of the collision throws her into the lorry where her helmet smashes into the metal container, before she crashes to the ground motionless.

Wheels on the lorry then narrowly miss running over her as pedestrians watch on in horror.

As the lorry comes to a stop further along the road, passersby rush to the woman's side and a colleague in a police car arrives in seconds to come to her aid.

Miraculously, the officer survived the collision although she sustained serious injuries.
