Chinese, Zambian defense ministers hold talks on closer ties

BEIJING, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guanglie held talks Thursday with Zambian counterpart Kalombo Mwansa on promoting ties between the two countries and their armed forces.

Liang said China-Zambia relations had become a role model of South-South cooperation as the two countries had a long-term friendship.

The China-Zambia friendship showed increasing of political mutual trust and close coordination on international issues, Liang said.

China hoped both sides could continue expanding exchanges and cooperation, he said.

Mwansa said he hoped he could boost bilateral exchanges and cooperation in personnel training and equipment through this visit.

Liang also held a welcoming ceremony for the Zambian defense minister and his entourage.
