PYONGYANG, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- A photo exhibition commemorating the 60th anniversary of the entry of the Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) into the Korean front was held on Thursday at the Pyongyang International Cultural Center.

Sixty precious historic photos are on display at the exhibition held by the Korea-China Friendship Association of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Among them two are a group photo of the late Chinese leader Mao Zedong and Kim Il Sung, the late DPRK leader, and a group photo of Chinese President Hu Jintao and the DPRK's top leader Kim Jong Il.

Dozens of pictures reflecting the friendship between the two armies and the two peoples were also displayed at the exhibition which ends on Tuesday.

Choe Chang Sik, chairman of the Central Committee of the Korea-China Friendship Association, said in a speech that the exhibition reflected the traditional friendship fostered by the elder generation of revolutionaries.

He said the DPRK would do its best to strengthen and develop the DPRK-China friendship.

Chinese ambassador Liu Hongcai said strengthening the traditional China-DPRK friendship serves the fundamental interests and common will of the two peoples and plays an important role in maintaining peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

The CPV entered the DPRK on Oct. 25, 1950, about four months after the Korean War broke out.
