11-11-2010 10:02 BJT

BISHKEK, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyz President Roza Otunbayeva announced Wednesday that the newly-elected parliament should choose a prime minister and organize a new government before Nov. 27.

"I am asking you (parliament members) to act above political intrigues and choose the Prime Minister while organizing the new government before November 27, for the sake of the people's interests," Otunbayeva said at the first session of Kyrgyzstan's new parliament.

"Personal interests and ambitions should not prevail over the interests of the state. The constitution offers all of the conditions needed to enable these five parties to work together for the benefit of people's interests," she added.

"A new government should include high-level specialists and should not consist only of members from certain parties", she said.

Also on Wednesday, the new Kyrgyz parliament went into recess for an indefinite period of time to "enable the parties to hold consultations on the formation of a coalition," said Omurbek Tekebayev, leader of the parliamentary faction of the pro- government Ata-Meken party.

Kyrgyz Central Election Commission announced the final results of the Oct. 10 election on Nov. 1, with five parties winning parliamentary seats. The opposition Ata-Jurt Party became the biggest winner, gaining 8.47 percent of the votes.
