ASTANA, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Kazakh scholars on Wednesday spoke highly of a speech by China's top political adviser, Jia Qinglin, delivered at the Eurasian National University of Kazakhstan.

Just as Jia had said in his speech, Kazakhstan and China are neighbors with a lot in common, said A. Zaborsky, a well-known sociologist in Kazakhstan.

The renowned Silk Road had linked the two peoples together, Zaborsky told Xinhua. The nomadic nation learned advanced agricultural skills from the Chinese, he said.

The audience now have a better understanding of China's strategy of peaceful development and a firmer belief in the prospect of the strategic partnership between the two countries, said Zaborsky.

Jia's speech is enlightening for the strategic development of ties between Kazakhstan and China, said Aida Sagitaeva, Vice President of the Eurasian National University.

His audience included members of the parliament and government officials, as well as students and faculty of the Eurasian National University, she said.

"The speech not only served as a window for the audience to know more about China, it also provided an excellent research object for our Ph.D. candidates," said Sagitaeva.

There were a lot of scholars on China and students learning the Chinese language in the audience, for whom, Jia's speech provided a perfect chance to improve, she said.

It is no doubt that Jia's visit was significant in enhancing mutual political trust and economic and trade exchanges between Kazakhstan and China, said Sagitaeva.

Jia's speech and his visit to the Confucius Institute of the Eurasian National University was a huge encouragement for teachers and students of the institute, said Saule Koshanova, director of the institute.

Many students learning Chinese at the Confucius Institute are determined to contribute to the friendly relations between the two countries, and they now have a clearer plan for future studies, said Koshanova.

Jia, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, arrived here Tuesday for a visit.
