MOSCOW, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Hundreds of Chinese and Russian business representatives exchanged views on further deepening bilateral pragmatic cooperation in various fields at the fifth China-Russia economic and trade summit forum that opened here on Wednesday.

During the forum cosponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the Russian Economic Development Ministry, these business representatives discussed cooperation on various sectors such as mechanical and electrical products, technical innovation and special economic zones, infrastructure construction, brand innovation, as well as the 22nd Harbin International Economic and Trade Fair.

Both sides reached extensive consensus on long-term cooperation in several issues, such as major projects and spheres in the future.

The annual Harbin International Economic and Trade fair is one of the large-scale foreign fairs authorized by the Chinese government, and has been held successfully since its first session in 1990.

Sun Yao, vice governor of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, told Xinhua that the successful hosting of the trade fair is conducive to strengthening and boosting cooperation between China's Northeast and Russia's East Siberia and Far East.

Ling Ji, minister counselor for economic and commercial affairs at the Chinese embassy in Russia, told Xinhua that the trade fair has become a qualified platform for Chinese and Russian enterprises to enter each other's markets.

Igor Rogachev, former Russian ambassador to China and head of the Russian-Chinese Economic and Investment Cooperation Center, told Xinhua that the Sino-Russian trade and economic cooperation, which weathered through difficult times during the global financial crisis, will further deepen in the future.

Companies from China and Russia also inked a total of 13 deals valued at eight billion U.S. dollars at the forum.

These agreements covered a wide range of sectors such as finance, electric power, telecommunications, metallurgy, automobile sales and agriculture.

With strong support from the governments of both countries, economic and trade relations between China and Russia have enjoyed rapid development in recent years.

In the first ten months of this year, trade volume between China and Russia hit 45.1 billion U.S. dollars, up 43.4 percent year-on-year.
