Famed for inducing long snaking queues wherever she appears, Hello Kitty is to have her own castle in Beijing, the first time the famous Japanese cat will engage her Chinese fans with role-playing games.

Running from Dec 1 through to March 11 on the north side of Beijing Workers Stadium's east gate, the event, named Hello Kitty Black Wonder, cost 20 million yuan to create and will look like a huge castle.

The castle was designed to celebrate the 30th birthday of the world-famous kitten and is decorated with labyrinth-like sets, which are being shipped from Hong Kong.

Eric Wang, one of the leaders of the project, who has participated in the exhibition since 2008, said it is targeted at adults rather than children.

"Hello Kitty is after all more than 30 years old and she does have several generations of fans," he said.
