RAMALLAH, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is "so pessimistic" towards achieving peace with the current Israeli government, a senior Palestinian official said on Wednesday.

Ziad Abu Ein, member of Abbas' Fatah party's Revolutionary Council told Xinhua that President Abbas told the members of the council that he is not having any hope to make peace with the current Israeli government.

The Fatah Revolutionary Council began on Wednesday a two-day conference in Ramallah. Abbas expressed his concerns over achieving peace with Israel during a speech he addressed at the opening of the council's meeting.

The council, which is Fatah's parliament, is to discuss substantial issues related to the current Middle East peace process and ending the split with rival Islamic Hamas movement which has been ruling the Gaza Strip since 2007.

"The Israeli government, with its current structure, is not ready to achieve peace and it only wants to continue construction in the settlements," Abu Ein quoted Abbas as saying. "The Palestinians reject talks with settlement."

Abu Ein said that President Abbas told the council that all options for the Palestinians are opened within the coming stage amid the standstill of the peace talks and Israel's insistence to continue settlement.

The Palestinians suspended their talks with Israel one month after it started in Washington on Sept. 2, after Israel refused to extend a ten-month moratorium on freezing settlement that ended on Sept. 26.
