Foshan, November 25 - Chinese boxers Ren Cancan and Zhang Zhilei overpowered their opponents in the Boxing finals, awarding China two Boxing gold medals at the Guangzhou Asian Games.

Defending champion Hu Qing of China and his compatriot Chang Yong took the silver medals in Men's 60kg and 52kg category.

On the medal standings, China took the lead with two gold, silver and bronze respectively, while India followed with 1-1-4. Kazakhstan took the third with 1-1-2.

The Guangzhou Asiad presents the Women's Boxing for the first time after the competition was included into the London Olympics last August.

New-crowned world champion Ren became the first Asiad Women's Boxing gold medalist after she beat Annie Albania of the Philippines 7-5 in the final of Women's 51kg event.

"As Women's Boxing is included into the Olympics and Asiad, I believe this sport will be booming in the future," said Ren after the bout.

The 22-year-old Ren survived a tough challenge from her opponent, using sound defence and accurate punches.

"We are familiar with each other's style, so I have to focus on the defence at the beginning," added Ren, who considered the gold of London Olympics as her main objective in the future two years.

Hmangte Chungneijang Mary of India and Shinmoto Aya of Japan settled for the bronze.

Later on, Olympic silver medalist Zhang Zhilei won the Men's +91kg Boxing, beating Ivan Dychko of Kazakhstan 7-5 in the final.

"It is great to win the Asiad gold, but there is still a long way to go before the London Olympics, I will spare no effort en route to the Olympic gold," said Zhang after clinching China's first Asiad heavyweight gold in 20 years.

Roohollah Hosseini of Iran and Paramjeet Samota of India took the bronze.

In the final of Men's 69kg Boxing, two-time world and Asian champion Sapiyev Serik of Kazakhstan met no challenge from Uzbekistan's Rahmonov Uktamjon as he claimed the winning score of 9-3.

Otgonjargal Jargal of Mongolia and Maimaitituersun Qiong of China shared the bronze.
