LOS ANGELES, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. federal and local authorities have waged a fruitful war against illegal marijuana cultivation in San Diego County, U.S. State of California, in the first 11 months of this year, seizing a total of 378,243 marijuana plants in the area, according to a press release available here on Wednesday.

These illegal plants were grown in 165 separate locations, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) San Diego Field Division's Narcotics Task Force (NTF) said. Eighty-nine of these were public sites. More than 294,175 of illegal plants were removed from these lands.

Trafficker assets valued at approximately 700,000 U.S. dollars were also seized by investigators from NTF, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department and Health Advocates Rejecting Marijuana ( HARM). A total of 118 people were arrested in connection with these operations.

"DEA/NTF and all our local, state and federal law enforcement partners are dedicated to keeping this dangerous drug off the streets of San Diego," said DEA San Diego Special Agent in Charge Ralph W. Partridge.

As a dedicated team, the multi-agency task force is responsible for conducting marijuana eradication operations in San Diego County, Partridge said.
